Frequently Asked Questions
CRYOTHERAPY
  • What are the risks of Whole-Body Cryotherapy?

There are minimal risks associated with Whole-Body Cryotherapy, given all our specialists at Innovation Wellness have been certified to operate our Cryosense chamber. Please dry the body prior to the session to remove excess moisture, lotions, and creams that may react with the cold, liquid nitrogen. Fluctuations in blood pressure during the procedure by up to 10 points systolically can occur but reverses after the procedure is finished, as peripheral circulation returns to normal. Additionally, guests may experience some redness on their skin, but this will subside shortly after the treatment.

You should not use Whole-Body Cryotherapy if you are experiencing any of the following: hypertension, cancer, pregnancy, open wounds, recent tattoo, raynaud’s, or under the age of 14.

  • Can I use Cryotherapy if I am claustrophobic?
Yes, you may. The Cryosense door is held by a magnet, allowing you to step out at any time. Our technician is present throughout the session and can stop the session at your request. The chamber is open at the top, and your head remains above the level of the upper rim of the cabin for the duration of the session. Clients who suffer from claustrophobia report that they are comfortable during their session.
  • What do I wear during a session?
For the best results, we recommend wearing underwear with protective gear. Socks, slippers, gloves, and cotton underwear (for men) are provided by Innovation Wellness and must be worn during the session. This protects your extremities from any potential damage from extreme temperatures.
  • How often should I receive sessions to see results?
Innovation Wellness recommends 2-3 sessions per week to experience maximum recovery benefits. While you do feel an immediate difference after the session, studies show that cryotherapy starts a 48-hour reset in your body. By alternating days, you continue the healing cycle without interrupting the reset with daily sessions.
  • Is nitrogen gas dangerous to humans?
No, nitrogen is a friendly, non-toxic gas found in our own atmosphere and is as common and safe as oxygen. Inhaling excess amounts can be dangerous. Every customer using our Cryotherapy service is monitored by our certified technician throughout the session.
  • How does Cryotherapy help with chronic pain?
Cryotherapy has an analgesic effect that relieves different types of pain-headaches, injuries, and even arthritis! The extreme cold decreases the speed of nerve conduction and inhibits pain receptors to help reduce the feeling of pain while stimulating the body’s healing response.
INFRARED LIGHT THERAPY
  • How often should I receive sessions to see results?

Every person’s condition is unique; therefore, their treatment course is as well. However, there are some general rules of thumb that apply to Infrared Light Therapy.

Acute injuries and inflammation from muscle strains and sprains, cuts, bruises, burns, etc. typically show very rapid improvement and can resolve in 2-4 treatments.

Long-term, chronic conditions can take as many as 12 sessions to get significant benefits then 1-2 sessions every 3-6 weeks may be necessary to maintain benefits.

We recommend every other day in the first 2-3 weeks. At that point intervals typically reduce to 2x per week, depending on your conditions and wellness goals. Buying a monthly membership is the cheapest way to receive the best benefits.

  • How long is an Infrared Light session?
While most infrared light panels require 30-45 minute sessions, our NovoTHOR bed provides full body coverage of balance red and infrared light, cutting session time down to 12 minutes. NovoTHOR is the perfect infrared light service for clients with limited time to get maximal results!
  • What do I wear for a session?
We recommend our clients be minimally dressed-underwear, swimsuit, etc. Treatment is enhanced by exposing as much skin to the light as possbile, allowing for the most absorption.

  • What is the difference between Red Light and Infrared Light Therapy?

Both Red Light and Infrared Light penetrate the skin to increase mitochondrial function, resulting in more cellular energy to allow your cells to perform better. They differ in the cells they are able to reach, therefore targeting different functions.

Red Light penetrates the top layers of the skin-the dermis and epidermis. Red Light targets cells to help:

    • Boost Collagen and Elastin Production
    • Reduce Fine Lines and Wrinkles
    • Promote Hair Growth
    • Encourage Fat Cell Shrinkage

Infrared Light has a longer wavelength than Red Light, allowing it penetrate the subcutaneous tissue. This is the closest layer of skin to the muscle. Infrared Light targets deeper cells to help:

    • Reduce Inflammation
    • Relieve Muscle & Joint Pain
    • Increase Circulation
    • Boost Energy Levels
    • Improve Metabolism
    • Repair Tissue

NovoTHOR uses a combination of Red and Infrared Light to achieve healing from the inside out!

  • Does the Infrared Light Bed emit UV rays?
No, the NovoTHOR bed does not emit UV rays. Infrared and Red light are the only light waves used.
COMPRESSION THERAPY
  • How does it work?
Normatec Compression Sleeves are designed to mimic the natural muscle-pumping action of the legs and arms, enhancing circulation and reducing muscle soreness. The sleeves are equipped with multiple chambers. Starting with the feet or hands and moving towards the torso, each cycle fills the chambers with air, pulsing to encourage circulation. Once all the chambers are tight, pressure is released allowing blood to rush back into the area. At the end of the session, muscle tension has relaxed and circulation has improved.
  • What should I wear for a session?
We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing. Tight or rough clothing can end up pinching your skin, leaving you uncomfortable during the session.
  • How long is a session?

A typical session runs 30 minutes. Sessions can be split, allowing 15 minute sessions of two different sleeves. Compression sleeves can be used daily.

  • What areas of the body does Compression Therapy benefit?

We have three different attachments for the arms, legs, and hips. Leg attachments work from the feet up to the quads and hamstrings. Arm attachments work the hands to the shoulder joint. The hip attachment surrounds the quads, hamstrings, and glutes. You can choose a 30 minute session of one set, or split the session into a combination of all three.

  • Are there contraindications for Compression Therapy?
    Contraindications for Compression Therapy include:

    • Congestive Heart Failure
    • Recent Fractures or Breaks
    • Pulmonary Edema
    • Deep Vein Thrombosis
    • Open Wounds, Lesions, or Infections
    • Under the Age of 16

If you are experiencing any of these, please consult a doctor before scheduling a session.

Compression Therapy is beneficial during pregnancy to reduce swelling and soreness in the legs. We recommend avoiding the hip sleeves to avoid pressure around the low back and pelvic floor.

INFRARED SAUNA
  • How long is a sauna session, and how often can I do them?
Sauna sessions last 30-45 minutes, depending on the program you choose. You can enjoy the sauna as many as 3-4 times a week!
  • How do I prepare for my sauna session?

It is very important to stay hydrated before and after your session session. You will be provided with water during your session, but be sure to drink a minimum of 8 oz before and after each appointment. We also encourage drinking electrolytes to help replenish the body of minerals after detoxing in the sauna.

We recommend minimal clothing to increase your infrared light absorption-underwear and sports bra, swimsuit, or a provided robe or wrap.

  • Are there contraindications for the Sauna?
    Contraindications include:

    • Pregnancy
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Heart disease
    • Impaired Ability to Sweat
    • Fever or Sensitivity to Heat
    • Under the Age of 12

  • What is the difference between a dry sauna and a wet sauna?
Dry saunas use heated rocks or electric heaters, while wet saunas use steam generators. Our Sunlighten Sauna is a dry sauna with infrared panels to heat the body from the inside out.

While the wet sauna will have you soaked in sweat from high heat and humidity, the infrared sauna focuses on healing at a cellular level which in turns heats the core temperature. Once your core is warmed up, the detox process begins using sweat to carry toxins out of the body.

Program temperatures vary from 130°-140° F. The more frequent your sessions are, the more you will sweat as your body becomes accustomed to detoxing. To maximize your benefits, try using the sauna after physical activity or 10 minutes on our vibration plate to open your detox pathways before the sauna.

  • Can I take my cell phone into the sauna?
We do not recommend taking cell phones, smart watches, or other electronics into the sauna. High temperatures may result in damage to the device.
PEMF
Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields
  • How often can I use PEMF?
You can use PEMF everyday if you want! There is no risk of “overusing” the PEMF device.
